Common problem: brewing unit or drip tray does not fit

With the Nivona 8106 it is common that:

• the brewing unit does not click back into the machine;
• the drip tray is blocked when replacing;
• it seems like parts don't fit properly anymore.

This usually has to do with the machine's internal position. If the motor was still running when you unplugged it, or if you turned the machine off with the lid open, the internals are in the wrong position. This prevents the brewing unit from locking into place, and the drip tray becomes blocked.

How to solve it yourself in 5 steps

1. Switch the machine off completely (unplug it).
2. Remove the brewing unit and drip tray completely.
   
• Clean both parts immediately with lukewarm water.
• Check for coffee residues or loose parts.
  
3. Turn the machine on without any parts.
   
• Plug in the machine and turn it on.
• Let it start up with the service door open.
• Wait until you hear the startup sound and then unplug the power when it goes silent.
  
4. Replace the brewing unit.
   
• Gently push the brewing unit back – from bottom to top – until you hear a click.
  
5. Replace the drip tray.
   
• If the brewing unit is fitted correctly, the drip tray will now fit without any problems
  
  

🧽 Extra tip: prevent problems

• Clean the brewing unit weekly.
• Always switch off the machine using the on/off button, not by pulling out the plug directly.
• Use fresh, good quality coffee beans – this prevents stuck-on residue.
